Black Friday and Cyber Monday usually means lower prices, exclusive releases, and insane deals from brands big and small, all across the nation. But with these perks also come a ton of things to look out for and be cautious of. Here are some of our best tips to help protect your hard-earned purchases and make sure you're getting exactly what you ordered at some of the best prices you'll see all year.

Buy directly from the brand.

During Black Friday / Cyber Monday, you'll see TONS of social media ads promoting sales, exclusive releases, etc. While knowing about promotions is great, don't get scammed into making a purchase through a fake website, social media profile, or ad—where they can potentially take your money, card info, and more. Protect yourself and your purchase by going directly to the brand's website or storefront (or a reputable store you're 100% comfortable shopping with) to complete your purchase. Shopping ONLY on the brand's website or storefront will help ensure you're not getting scammed or duped into buying from a fake seller.

Do research before shopping with new brands.

If you're shopping with a new brand you've never shopped with before, take a few minutes and do a little research (your bank account will thank you for it). Check out their social media profiles and see what everyone is saying. Most brands work hard to grow and engage with their community. That said, if you see a brand with virtually no social media presence or a pile of negative comments plaguing their pages—run. Or don't. But realize you're taking a risk and are gambling with your hard-earned money.

If it sounds too good to be true, it just might be.

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are notorious for having some of the best prices you'll see all year, brands usually won't offer deals that are simply too good to be true. And don't get us wrong, we're sure there are tons of AMAZING steals out there to stumble upon. However, most brands won't heavily discount their best selling items (and if they do, they typically have very limited stock for doorbuster deals—and they usually sell out quick).
