Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to write in French.
How embarrassing.
Let me translate. What I meant to write was “My pillar candles cast a pretty glow.”
It’s just that I had this dream last night.
And I was kinda fabulous in it. I was obviously speaking French, and wearing this to die for rose pink tulle gown and my hair was perfectly blown out, not one bit of my normal frizz was detectable.
And I was radiant from the flickering glow of candlelight that swept across the room.
I was in this gorgeous Parisian apartment overlooking the Eiffel Tower and I was hosting the most epic dinner party. Sir Elton John sat to my left and Lana Del Rey sat to my right. At the other head of the table was my NBB (non boyfriend boyfriend) and all the other seats were filled by James Bond, my cousin Megan, a lady from my dance class, and a bunch of other people that I didn’t recognize. My NBB stood up and pulled the cover off of a beautifully polished sterling silver dish and revealed a pile of gummy bears.
We all “oohed and ahhed.” Suddenly Dracula entered the room carrying a candelabra and everyone stood up. He turned the light from my 18th Century André-Charles Boulle gilt-bronze chandelier off with a snap of his fingers. And in an instant all the candles on the table lit up and we all erupted in spontaneous applause, except for my cousin, she passed out and her face was planted on the antique china plate in front of her.
Not sure what that says about me.
But what it DID for me, was inspire the desire to recreate the moody ambiance of my slumbering fantasy.
